Zylos App Usage support

About Zylos App Usage

Zylos App Usage shows how you spend time on apps — screen time, opens and unlocks, a weekly report, categories, a daily goal with streaks and daily limits — using Android's own usage records on your phone.

What you can do

Android only. On iPhone, Apple's Screen Time provides this; the app is not offered on the App Store.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.

  • Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
  • One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?

While you are signed in, the app backs up: app settings (theme, colour mood, language, haptics), your daily screen-time goal and best streak.

  • Never backed up: your app usage (read from Android, never stored); per-app limits (kept in the reminder service's private storage); launch and review counters, ad timing.
  • Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
  • To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.

  • Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
  • Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos App Usage → Storage → Clear storage).
  • Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?

Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.

  • Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
  • Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
  • To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos App Usage in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?

The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. Banners appear below the content of Home, app details, limits and the report screens, and a native ad (labelled "Ad") may appear in the weekly report or after the fifth app in Most used. A full-screen ad may appear occasionally when you move forward to another screen (for example opening the weekly report), and at most once per 4 hours when the app starts (never the first time). No ads on the Usage access steps, the goals screen or the limit-reached screen, and never over Android's settings or permission dialogs.

  • Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?

Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.

  • To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
  • You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?

Usage access (special access, you grant it in Settings) — Reading Android's usage records to show your screen time and app opens. The app explains the steps first.

  • Notifications (Android 13+) — One reminder per app per day when you pass a daily limit you set. Optional. Also occasional announcements from us, asked for at most once and never before your third launch.
  • Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
  • Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
  • You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?

Your app usage is read from Android's own records on your phone when you open the app. It is never uploaded, copied or stored by us.

  • The app needs Usage access, which you grant in Android settings.
  • Daily limits and your daily screen-time goal are kept on your phone; reminders are local notifications. Reports, streaks and categories are worked out from Android's records each time and not stored.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
  • Details: privacy policy.
