About Zylos Duplicate Photos
Zylos Duplicate Photos finds exact copies, similar shots, screenshots and large photos on your Android phone so you can clear them. Photos are analysed on the phone only.
What you can do
- Exact copies: the same photo saved twice.
- Similar photos: resized, re-saved and burst shots. Choose how strict the match is.
- Screenshots (select old ones in one tap) and large photos (3–20 MB threshold you choose) to review.
- Scan everything, only the albums you pick, or a date range such as the last 30 days.
- In each set the best copy (most pixels, then sharpest) is kept by default.
- Compare any copy side by side with the kept one and see why it was picked.
- At least one photo in every set is always kept.
- See how much space you can free, then review exactly what will go before anything moves.
- Removed photos go to Android's trash after Android's own confirmation, so your Gallery can restore them for about 30 days. Nothing is deleted permanently.
- History shows your past clean-ups (dates and amounts only).
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.
- Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
- One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?
While you are signed in, the app backs up: app settings (theme, colour mood, language, haptics).
- Never backed up: photos, scan results, the scan setup (album ids) and cleanup history; launch and review counters, ad timing.
- Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
- To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.
- Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
- Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos Duplicate Photos → Storage → Clear storage).
- Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?
Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.
- Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
- Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
- To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos Duplicate Photos in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?
The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. Banners appear below the content of the home, list, history and settings screens; native ads (clearly labelled “Ad”) appear on the results summary, between sets of duplicates and in History. A full-screen ad may appear occasionally when you leave a clean-up result or move forward to another screen, and sometimes when you open the app (not the first time, at most every 4 hours). Never during a scan, between a scan and its results, while you compare photos, or around Android's delete dialog.
- Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.
- To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
- You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?
Photos — Scanning your photos for duplicates. With “Select photos”, the app only sees the photos you picked and says so.
- Move to trash — Android shows its own dialog to confirm every move to the trash.
- Notifications (Android 13+, optional) — Occasional announcements from us and tips about features you haven't tried yet. Asked once, never before your third launch; the app works the same without it, and tips can also be turned off in the app's Settings.
- Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
- Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
- You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?
Your photos are analysed only on your phone. Photos and scan results are never uploaded.
- The app asks for photos access only (not videos, audio or All files access).
- Photos you remove go to Android's trash after Android's own confirmation, so they can be restored for about 30 days.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
- Details: privacy policy.
