Zylos File Manager support

About Zylos File Manager

Zylos File Manager browses, organises and recovers files on your Android phone. Files, folder names and contents are read and changed only on the phone, only when you act.

What you can do

Android only. (An iPhone build only shows an explanation, because iOS doesn't let apps browse the phone's storage; it is not offered on the App Store.)

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.

  • Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
  • One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?

While you are signed in, the app backs up: app settings (theme, colour mood, language, haptics).

  • Never backed up: files, file names, favourites, recovered files and scan history; launch and review counters, ad timing.
  • Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
  • To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.

  • Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
  • Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos File Manager → Storage → Clear storage).
  • Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?

Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.

  • Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
  • Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
  • To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos File Manager in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?

The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. Banners appear on browsing screens, and native ads (labelled "Ad") in the storage analysis, cleanup suggestions, scan results and below result summaries (never first in a list). A full-screen ad may appear occasionally when you leave a cleanup, copy/move or recovery summary or move to another screen (at most one per two moves, at least a minute apart), and at most once per 4 hours when the app starts (never the first time). Never on Back, on permission screens, while files are being deleted, copied, moved, scanned or recovered, or between an operation and its result.

  • Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?

Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.

  • To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
  • You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?

All files access (Android 11+) — The core of a file manager: browse and manage every folder on internal storage and SD cards. You grant it in Android settings; without it the app explains why and opens the setting.

  • Photos, videos and music — Categories (counts and sizes) and recovery from Android's trash.
  • Storage (older Android) — The same features on older Android versions.
  • Notifications (Android 13+, optional) — Occasional announcements from us and tips about features you haven't tried yet. Asked once, never before your third launch; the app works the same without it, and tips can also be turned off in the app's Settings.
  • Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
  • Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
  • You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?

Your files are browsed and changed only on your phone, only when you act. No file, file name or folder content is ever uploaded.

  • The app needs All files access (you grant it in Android settings) to work as a file manager, and media access for categories and recovery.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
  • Uninstalling deletes the app's settings. The recycle bin and recovered copies are ordinary folders on your storage and stay until you delete them.
  • Details: privacy policy.
