Zylos Projector support

About Zylos Projector

Zylos Projector shows photos, videos, music and PDF slides from your phone on a TV or projector (Chromecast/Google Cast and DLNA smart TVs), mirrors your screen to a browser on the same Wi-Fi (Android), casts web videos, and includes a TV remote for Roku and Google TV. Its More Tools tab has three built-in tools — Wi-Fi Analyzer, App Usage (screen time) and App Manager — the same features as the separate Zylos apps, read on your phone.

What you can do

Available for Android and iOS. Mirroring to a browser and the Google TV remote are Android only; on iPhone, screen mirroring uses Apple's own Control Center / AirPlay.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.

  • Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
  • One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?

While you are signed in, the app backs up: app and slideshow settings (theme, colour mood, language, slide timing, order, shuffle, loop, keep-awake, haptics).

  • Never backed up: photos, videos, music, documents and web pages you cast; recent TVs and projectors; launch and review counters, ad timing.
  • Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
  • To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.

  • Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
  • Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos Projector → Storage → Clear storage).
  • Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?

Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.

  • Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
  • Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
  • To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos Projector in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?

The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. Banners sit below the content of calm screens, never on the player, a running slideshow, the browser or a TV pairing code. A full-screen ad may appear only when you open another tab or feature (at most one per two taps, never in the first minute), and never while casting, mirroring, pairing or using the TV remote; all ads are suppressed while you mirror your screen.

  • Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?

Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.

  • To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
  • You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?

Screen mirroring — Mirroring your screen to a browser while you choose to. Android asks every time (“Start recording or casting?”) and shows a notification while it's on; you can stop from the notification.

  • Notifications (Android 13+) — The ongoing notification while mirroring, with a Stop button. Also occasional announcements from us, asked for at most once and never before your third launch.
  • Wi-Fi information and multicast — Finding Chromecast, DLNA, Roku and Google TV devices on your Wi-Fi and serving media on the Wi-Fi address.
  • Location (while using the app; Wi-Fi Analyzer only) — Android only reveals Wi-Fi names and nearby-network scan results to apps with location permission and with Location turned on. Asked only when you open Wi-Fi Analyzer, after an explanation; the app never requests your location. Background location is blocked.
  • Wi-Fi scans and network details — Refreshing the nearby-network list and reading link details for Wi-Fi Analyzer.
  • Usage access (special access, you grant it in Settings) — App Usage's screen time and App Manager's data sizes and last use. Optional; asked only when you open those tools, with the steps explained first.
  • Request to uninstall apps — App Manager asks Android to uninstall the apps you select. Android shows its own confirmation for each app.
  • Pick photos, videos, music and PDFs — Only the files you select are shared with the app. Broad media and storage permissions are removed from the Android manifest.
  • Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob, talks to Cast/DLNA TVs and TV remotes on your Wi-Fi, and loads web pages you open in Web Cast. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
  • Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
  • You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?

Media you pick is streamed directly from your phone to your TV over your own Wi-Fi. It is never uploaded to the internet or to us.

  • Screen mirroring (Android) sends your screen only to browsers on your Wi-Fi that know the address and 6-digit code, and only while you mirror.
  • Saved TV names stay on your phone; your settings leave it only as a backup to your Zylos account, if you sign in.
  • More Tools (Wi-Fi Analyzer, App Usage, App Manager) reads your Wi-Fi details, Android's app-usage records and your app list on your phone only; none of it is uploaded. Location permission is asked only because Android requires it to show Wi-Fi names, and your location is never read.
  • Web Cast opens websites you choose in an in-app browser; those sites see your visit under their own policies.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
  • Details: privacy policy.
