About Zylos WiFi Manager
Zylos WiFi Manager shows your current Wi-Fi connection and a live signal meter, nearby networks and channel crowding, runs network checks with fix guides, keeps a room signal log and check history on your phone, and makes a QR code to share a network. Network details are read on your phone only.
What you can do
- Network name, signal (% and dBm), link speed, band and channel, IP at a glance.
- Warnings for open or outdated security, no internet, and sign-in (captive) pages.
- Checks Wi-Fi → router → DNS → internet → latency, then tells you the problem in plain words.
- Step-by-step fix guides: restart the router, move closer or use 5 GHz, fix DNS / Private DNS, sign in to a hotel or café network. Then check again.
- Check history keeps your last 20 results on your phone (network names only if you turn that on).
- Full-screen signal meter with a live graph of the last minute.
- Save the reading for each room and see which room has the best signal.
- BSSID, frequency, Wi-Fi standard, security, upload/download link speed, IPv4/IPv6, subnet, gateway, DNS, private DNS and metered — all copyable.
- Nearby networks grouped by name (mesh and dual-band), with signal, security and bands.
- Channel crowding view that suggests the least busy channel (2.4 GHz: 1, 6 or 11), with steps to change it on your router.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.
- Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
- One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?
While you are signed in, the app backs up: the room signal log (room names you typed and their signal readings, at most 30 rooms) and app settings (theme, colour mood, language, haptics, whether network names are kept in history).
- Never backed up: network names, addresses and the check history; passwords typed for QR codes (never stored at all); launch and review counters, ad timing.
- Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
- To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.
- Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
- Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos WiFi Manager → Storage → Clear storage).
- Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?
Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.
- Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
- Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
- To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos WiFi Manager in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?
The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. Banners appear below the content of most screens, and a native ad (labelled "Ad") may appear below check results or in the nearby-networks list. A full-screen ad may appear occasionally when you open a tool or leave check results, and at most once per 4 hours when the app starts (never the first time). No ads while checks or scans run, while the signal meter is open, or while a QR code is shown.
- Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.
- To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
- You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?
Location (while using the app) — Android only reveals Wi-Fi names (SSIDs) and nearby-network scan results to apps with location permission and with Location turned on. The app uses it for that alone; it only checks whether Location is switched on and never requests your location. Background location is blocked.
- Wi-Fi information and scanning — Reading the current connection and starting scans for nearby networks (Android allows 4 scans per 2 minutes). The app cannot turn Wi-Fi on or off; it opens Android's panel.
- Notifications (Android 13+, optional) — Occasional announcements from us and tips about features you haven't tried yet. Asked once, never before your third launch; the app works the same without it, and tips can also be turned off in the app's Settings.
- Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob and run the network checks you start. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
- Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
- You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?
Network details are read only on your phone and never uploaded.
- Location permission is needed only because Android requires it to show Wi-Fi names and nearby networks. The app never reads, stores or sends your location.
- A Wi-Fi password you type to make a QR code stays in memory and is never saved.
- The last 20 check results stay on your phone. The room signal log (room names you type and saved readings) does too, unless you sign in to a Zylos account, which backs it up. Network names are kept with check results only if you turn that on (off by default).
- Network checks contact google.com and 1.1.1.1 to test your connection; nothing about you is sent.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
- Details: privacy policy.
