About Zylos File Recovery
Zylos File Recovery finds deleted, hidden and lost photos, videos, audio and documents that are still on your Android phone, and copies or restores them. Scanning and recovery happen entirely on the phone.
What you can do
- Android's “recently deleted” trash (Android 11+): put photos and videos back exactly where they were, until Android empties the trash (about 30 days).
- Gallery and file-manager recycle bins on your storage: original files, copied back for you.
- Leftover thumbnails: low-quality previews of photos that are gone, clearly labelled as previews.
- Hidden and unindexed media (deep scan): .nomedia and hidden folders, files your gallery doesn't show, and renamed files recognised by their content.
- Documents in a folder you pick (PDF, Word and more).
- Duplicates: exact copies of photos, videos and audio. The oldest is kept; extra copies go to Android's trash with Android's own confirmation, so they stay recoverable for about 30 days (Android 11+).
- A list of recovered files to open or share, and your scan history.
- Choose what you lost (photos, videos, audio, documents) and a quick or deep scan.
- Filter the results by type, where they were found, age and size; hide low-quality previews.
- A recovery summary tells you how many came back and exactly where each was saved.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account?
No. Every feature of the app works without an account. A Zylos account is optional and only adds a cloud backup, so you can restore your data on a new phone.
- Open Settings → Account and sign in with Google, create an account with email and password, or continue as a guest.
- One Zylos account works across all Zylos apps; each keeps its own backup.
What is backed up, and how do I restore it?
While you are signed in, the app backs up: app settings (theme, colour mood, language, haptics).
- Never backed up: files, file names, recovered files, scan history and scan results; launch and review counters, ad timing.
- Backups run automatically when something changed (at most every 10 minutes while the app is open, and when it goes to the background).
- To restore, install the app on the new phone and sign in with the same account in Settings → Account; the app offers to restore the saved data. A guest account can only be restored on the phone that created it, so link it to Google first if you plan to switch phones.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your sign-in, your profile and every Zylos backup at once.
- Without the app: go to apps.zylostechsolutions.com/delete-account, sign in with the same account and confirm.
- Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app (or use Android Settings → Apps → Zylos File Recovery → Storage → Clear storage).
- Signing out is not deleting: your backup stays for the next time you sign in.
How do I turn notifications and quick actions on or off?
Occasional announcements (new features, tips) are sent to everyone with the app — never targeted at you personally. On Android 13 and later the app asks for notification permission once, from your third launch, and not again if you say no.
- Quick actions: a silent notification with shortcuts into the app. Turn it on or off in the app's Settings → Quick actions in notifications.
- Tips and reminders: occasional local tips about features you haven't tried. Turn them off in Settings → Tips and reminders.
- To stop all notifications, turn them off for Zylos File Recovery in your phone's Settings → Apps → Notifications.
Why do I see ads?
The app is free, and ads from Google AdMob pay for it. A banner appears at the bottom of the main screens, and native ads (labelled "Ad") between result rows and below the recovery summary. A full-screen ad may appear occasionally when you leave the results or the recovery summary or move between screens (at most one per two actions, never in the first minute), and at most once per 4 hours when the app starts (never the first time). Never between a scan and its results, during a scan or recovery, or on a preview. Recovery is never locked behind an ad.
- Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (maximum ad content rating “PG”).
How do I change my ad consent or personalisation?
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and some US states), Google's consent form appears before any ad loads.
- To change your choice later: Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices (shown where Google says privacy options are required).
- You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Privacy → Ads, and manage Google ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
Which permissions does the app use, and why?
Photos, videos and music — Scanning for deleted, trashed and hidden media. With Android 14's “Select photos”, the app sees only the photos you picked and says so.
- Storage (older Android) — Scanning and saving recovered copies on older Android versions.
- Folders you pick — Deep scans of folders such as DCIM, including hidden recycle bins. You can remove any folder in the app.
- Notifications (Android 13+, optional) — Occasional announcements from us and tips about features you haven't tried yet. Asked once, never before your third launch; the app works the same without it, and tips can also be turned off in the app's Settings.
- Network access — Loads ads from Google AdMob. If you sign in, it also carries your backup.
- Advertising ID / Android ad services — added by Google's ads SDK; controlled by your consent and your phone's ad settings.
- You can change any permission in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without the optional ones. The full list, with technical names, is in the privacy policy.
What information do you collect?
Your photos, videos, audio and documents are scanned only on your phone. Files and scan results are never uploaded.
- The app uses media access and, if you choose, access to folders you pick with Android's folder picker. It does not request All files access.
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects device and ad-interaction data under Google's policies, with Google's consent form where required.
- Uninstalling deletes the app's history and settings. Files you recovered stay in your public folders.
